Brief history and main works of the arquitect who design the museum.

Teodoro González de León was born in 1926, he studied architecture at UNAM. In 1947 he got an scholarship from the french government and he worked for 18 months workshop Le Corbusier. He took part in the working team for the Room Unit of Marsella and L’Usine Duval de St. Dié in France. He came back to Mexico at the end of the 40’s and since then he had developed an uninterrupted professional activity with big public and private buildings.
He was the architect in charge of designing the Rufino Tamayo’s museum, for this project he made a deep investigation where, between other aspects, he visited several museums around the world. He started the design in 1972, but the building process began until 1979 and concluded two years later, in 1981. The outcome was a building with a very special design, that made him and his partner Abraham Zabludovsky worthy of winning the Premio Nacional de Ciencias y Artes, in the category “fine arts” in 1982.
He’s also the author of the INFONAVIT building, the remodeling of the National Auditorium, the Mexico’s schoolhouse, among others.

Geometry forms that dominate the museum

Irregular shapes, and the prenominal  is a pyramid shape.

Material and colors that dominate the museum.

The museum was mainly build with concrete mixed with white marble, as well as with glass and wood for the floor.
As the museum is mostly made of concrete, the predominating colour that you can see is gray, but the paintings are in very different colours and you can also appreciate the colour brown because of the made of wood floor and some sculptures.

Museum lighting

When I entry to the museum it’s perceived a dum light, protruding from the white walls, at the same time makes the artworks are most striking.

Feelings and emotions

When I arrive to the museum, I feel peace and tranquility

Distributions of rooms

They are all around the museum, divided by exhibitions. Although they are connected because you can move for one to another without any problem.

My opinion

Is a good museum, and have art not very common, I really recommended visit this museum, because, the location is beautiful and you have pass a good time with your family or friends.
